CMF International has been part of my life since I was in grade school. My parents served on the first team in Ethiopia in the ‘60s and ‘70s. It wasn’t long after leaving Ethiopia as a missionary kid that I decided to return as a missionary myself, and through the rest of my education I pursued this goal. Then, in 1977, my dreams were crushed as radical political change and evacuation of the CMF team meant a return was impossible. However, my wife and I switched our field interest from Ethiopia to Kenya, becoming bush church-planting missionaries there and in Tanzania. Later, we served in Singapore in a variety of mission roles. In 1995, the CMF Board called me to become the Executive Director – a role that God had been preparing me for all of my life.
I tell you all of that personal history to show the continuity found within CMF as played out in my life. Although technology and strategies have changed throughout the years, we have consistently ministered to the hearts, souls, and minds of people around the world. We are celebrating 60 years of participating in the extraordinary fulfillment of Christ’s command to go into all the world. We give God all of the glory!

Fellowship
Our workers live among the people they serve, learn the language, and work within the culture to communicate the love of God. We place a high value on our personnel working in teams, which have a shared strength as they determine the best strategies and use of team members for their field. This proven approach gives us continuity, accountability, fellowship, and effectiveness.
Partnership
We partner with churches of all sizes throughout the world in obedience to Jesus’ command to “go.” Whether in the sending out of personnel, in strategies, or in projects, we move forward together to meet the opportunities and challenges of an ever-changing world.
Strategy
We use strategies that are holistic by design. In the 6 decades of CMF ministry, we’ve changed how we do cross-cultural ministry, but we have kept focused on reaching the whole person: mind, body, soul. Our teams employ methods and strategies that bear fruit and are reproducible.
