We have just released a brand new book in time for this year’s North American Christian Convention at which missionary Mary Kamau will be featured. Mary is the Director of the Hope Partnership project in Nairobi, Kenya. The Birth of Hope is a coffee-table book with great photographs and a compelling fictional account of a boy [...] “It is arrogant and unfeeling to think that AIDS doesn’t affect me when our very lifestyle keeps many people of the world in poverty where AIDS thrives.” [...] For four Sundays in April and May, the Eastside Christian Church in Fullerton, California will be having a sermon series relating to ministry “Beyond the Walls.” A part of that emphasis will be on child sponsorship for Nairobi, Kenya. Last month my friend John Richardson, preacher from the Kern Park Christian Church in Portland, and I entered the home of a grandmother to pray with her. She lives in a shanty in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. Her house was a mere 12 feet by 12 feet. There was barely room for us to sit down. [...] In July 2010 the North American Christian Convention will be held in Indianapolis. The convention theme is “Beyond,” with the idea being we need to take our faith and practice far beyond what it is now.
